Cartridge version planned
In the wake of increased interest in a SpartaDOS 3.x compatible version of The Last Word, together with discussions about a possible boxed retail edition of the program, a cartridge-based version of the word processor is planned for the second half of 2010. The new edition will have numerous additional features and improvements, including 32K text buffers on upgraded machines, and automatic VBXE detection and support for the device’s native 80-column text mode. The program will also avoid the "Shadow RAM" under the XL/XE operating system, making it compatible with disk versions of SpartaDOS, as well as DOS XE and RealDOS. It’s even possible that support for the Atari 400/800 machines could be added.
